清正公岩

熊本城主加藤清正が大軍を率いて、人吉を攻めようとした際に、この岩の上から球磨川の上流を見渡しましたが、あまりに険しい山と道、球磨川の激流を目の当たりにし、「攻めても仕方がない」と引き返したと伝えられています。頂上には、清正公を祀る祠があります。
